The Village

The small village of Argestues is hidden in one of the most unknown areas of the sunny Catalan Pyrenees, in l’Alt Urgell, 26km from the Principality of Andorra, and 16 km from the nearest town, La Seu d’Urgell. The hamlet of Argestues originally had only four houses, all its inhabitants moved to other areas in the 60’s, it remained uninhabited for 40 years  and it slowly  became derelict. Now we can offer accommodation in five rural houses restored with a lot of love and care.
In Argestues there are only our houses and a small church which has been here for around one thousand years. Nearby there is the farm of Argestues with sheep and goats.  A small shop offers the local products hand made here.
It is an ideal place to rest and relax, let the children play freely … and if you feel active, there is also a lot to do. The peace and quiet of the surrounding mountains is ideal for hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, picking mushrooms … It is also worth taking advantage of our region, l’Alt Urgell, which is very active and where nature, adventure, culture and tradition combine to delight the visitors. If you feel active you can practice some adventure sports, climbing, horseback riding, play golf, rafting, alpine or Nordic skiing, paragliding ballooning, visit the Romanic churches of the surrounding villages … If you need help to organize any of these activities, please contact the tourist information office in la Seu d’Urgell.
The most interesting places are the nearby nature reserve of Boumort (20 km), the Natural Park of l’Alt Pirineu (10Km), La Seu d’Urgell, capital of the region and its Olympic Canoeing Park (17 km), Nordic ski at Sant Joan de l’Erm (27 km), the golf course with 18 holes in Aravell (15 km), our neighbouring country Andorra, with its whole range of alpine skiing and tax free shopping (26 Km).
